Baptisms

In Christianity, Baptism is a foundational Sacrament/Ordinance.

Baptism in the Bible:   Scripture points to Baptism in many places:  Matthew 3:16; Matthew 28:19; Mark 1:8; Mark 16:16; John 3:5; Acts 1:4-5; Acts 2:38; Acts 8:16; Acts 8:36-38; Acts 11:16; Acts 16:15; Acts 16:33; Acts 18:8; Acts 19:3-6; Acts 22:16; Romans 6:3-4; 1 Cor. 12:13; Eph. 5:25-26; Col. 2:12; 1 Peter 3:20-21, and many others.

Our Ministers/Chaplains administer Baptism in one of two ways:

1.  FULL BODY IMMERSION – for adult believers (the action of which signifies the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus).  The believer is immersed while the baptizer pronounces the “Trinitarian” formula,:  “I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.”  Full Body Immersion is the preferred method.

2.  POURING or SPRINKLING:  If an adult believer wants to be baptized but is hesitant about being fully immersed into water due to a medical condition, a disability, or being elderly, we will always ask:

For the elderly, disabled in which full body immersion may be medically unsafe, pouring or sprinkling may be an option for you.
